Home Sweet Home

After flying from Tegucigalpa to Chicago, I met up with my immediate family and we spent a few days with my mom's side of the family in Naperville. Christmas was nice and I really enjoyed just being with my family (I have a big extended family). Then the day after Christmas we drove down to Lawrence, KS and spent a few days with my dad's side of the family- the gathering was a little smaller than normal, but we had lots of fun anyway.
And this morning I finally arrived home in Wichita. I don't know if I consider this place my "home" completely, but it is close enough. We don't have much planned for the next week, so I am looking forward to relaxing a little bit- however, I will have to start studying for the GRE... I just registered today and I am taking it on Tuesday, hopefully I will do okay. I realized that I probably need to take it while I am in the U.S. so that I have the option of applying to grad schools for the fall. We will see how it goes.

Good luck with the GRE. I got a decent score, but it was less than i was hoping for. (I think a 700 pretty much gets you in most places). I actually was most surprised at my score from the written part. I thought I had written a decent essay (I even used the word "bucolic"), but I only got an average score (I think it was a 4?).

One thing to keep in mind: since the GRE is a smart test (it gets progressively harder or easier the more you get right or wrong) it is important to take your time on the early questions which are more heavily weighted than the later ones.

The good news is if you bomb it, there's always England!
